Her research—focused on disparities in cancer outcomes, surgical treatment of ovarian cancer, and rare gynecologic malignancies—reflects her long-standing commitment to equity and patient-centered science.

Dr. del Carmen’s dedication to advancing the field extends nationally. She serves as an oral examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and contributes to numerous national committees. In 2025, she was honored with the Society of Gynecologic Oncology’s President’s Award in recognition of her lifetime contributions to clinical care and research. A devoted mentor, she continues to invest in future leaders through her service on the Promotions Committee, Admissions Committee, and Faculty Council at Harvard Medical School.

Whether at the bedside or in the boardroom, Dr. del Carmen brings a clinician’s heart, a commitment to MGH’s mission, and an unwavering belief in the power of physicians to elevate care for every patient.
