Dr. Michael Cohen is a fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologist who has a special interest in caring for children with hearing loss and other ear conditions. He serves as director of the Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship and director of the Multidisciplinary Pediatric Hearing Loss Clinic at Mass Eye and Ear.
Dr. Cohen’s clinical interests are centered around ear problems such as cholesteatoma, eardrum perforations, infections, fluid and retraction, sensorineural hearing loss and conductive hearing loss. The surgeries he performs include cochlear implantation, bone conduction implants and repair of aural atresia. He performs non-invasive ear molding for newborns with ear anomalies. He also cares for children with a wide range of ear, nose and throat problems such as recurrent ear infections, obstructive sleep apnea, recurrent tonsillitis, neck masses and sinus disease.
His clinical research is in the area of pediatric otolaryngology, including endoscopic ear surgery, cochlear implantation, pediatric otology, artificial intelligence for diagnosis of ear infections, unilateral hearing loss, pediatric hearing loss, chronic ear disease, otitis media, obstructive sleep apnea and Eustachian tube dysfunction.
Dr. Cohen is frequently invited to speak at national and international meetings and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters in the field. He has taught dozens of courses on ear surgery and is the course director of the two-day International Endoscopic Ear Surgery Course, which is held semi-annually at Mass Eye and Ear.

Dr. Michael Cohen is the best of the best!!! My daughter [redacted] has Down Syndrome and gets anxious when she has a doctor's appointment. But Dr. Michael Cohen is her favorite doctor. She actually asks to go see him. He helps her so much and always takes time to explain things well and put her at ease. He is not only a wonderful and brilliant doctor he is also a thoughtful and caring person. He is exceptional and MEE is fortunate to have him on their team!

Dr cohen is amazing!! We seen him when my daughter had tonsillitis and had to stay in hospital for 3 days. He is an amazing doctor and so kind hearted and really cared about my daughter. This was her follow up and it resulted in her having to be scheduled for surgery. But he made sure it was the right step and explained it all and answered all my questions and my husbands. I would 100% recommend dr cohen
