• Dr. Gracin was AMAZING! I had started avoiding going to the doctor because I have had mostly bad experiences, but Dr. Gracin restored my faith. She listens deeply and is a thought PARTNER. She believed what I had to say about my personal experience in my body and used it to guide next steps thoughtfully and with great care. As someone who has a "complicated" constellation of "rare" health challenges, I actually felt understood, which is rare. As a very sensitive patient I am used to either being dismissed or injured by aggressive and intense tests and procedures, but Dr. Gracin made me feel safe by taking a less is more approach and starting with the safest and gentlest possible options first. I feel confident in my care for the first time in a very long time. Dr. Gracin seems to understand that is the most important part of the "medicine" and health, because her actions reflect it. So grateful!

• This provider dismissed me, cut me off mid sentence, did not believe my own reporting about my behavior, and judged me based on my appearance. She has made comments about my weight and how many steps I get in in the past (even when I was experiencing significantly disabling injuries and paralysis). I have been working to increase my mobility and shared at my appointment two years ago that I was proud of myself for waking over 10,000 steps during a vacation to another climate. During this visit, she immediately asked how many steps I got in, and when I answered on a good day (I have a dynamic disability), I can manage between 6-10k steps but it causes me pain, she cut me off and said "Well my staff tell me you can do 10,000 steps on vacation, so I guess you can walk when you want to, huh?" I tried to explain about my disability and chronic illness but she didn't listen. At the end of the appointment, she felt my legs and said I was wearing compression socks so it didn't matter. I said no, I'm not because they inhibit my muscles from engaging fully. She said, "Oh, well I saw your stiff neck and I figured you never walked! Well then you're a rockstar, you're my hero," implying that she didn't believe my reporting on my own mobility (which we have discussed over years), and judged my activity level based my neck appearance. My neck is stiff because I have an occipital bone to C2 upper cervical spine fusion and have limited range of motion. She has known this for 9 years. [redacted]
