• I have health issues with an autoimmune, have not been filling well, I have seen several neurologist, Dr Gray is the only one that listen to me regarding my symptoms and ordered the correct diagnostics tests and has referred me the vascular Rheumatology clinic.

• There was one finding on the internal physical exam of my nose that could have been explained further and detailed more as it relates to my symptoms, the plan of care etc. I feel that because the provider ordered imaging and is referring me to a different surgeon for care (assuming nothing surprising shows up on imaging to be done soon) she didn't necessarily have the same focus or interest in explaining the full picture or plan from her findings as she would have if she was going to be the likely person to continue my care. I found my time with her to be very informative and helpful and agreed with her understanding of my problems, but thought her approach should have been more proactive and direct instead of relying on me to express any questions or concerns. I am not the expert and don't necessarily know what I don't know, the provider is supposed to anticipate possible areas that need more explanation. I am someone that has medical background and has great capacity to learn things about my care that I am not an expert in, and wish to be treated as though I can take in more knowledge and want such knowledge, even if I don't come up with a specific question for every little detail.

I have healed very well and my vision is almost 100% restored. I told her about my experiences messaging her office earlier this year, and she kept insisting what I was describing "wasn't the practice's policy" so she would have to "go back and look at the messages," as if I wasn't telling the truth. She was more dismissive than I remember and I felt a bit patronized. I was surprised.

• I found it a bit frustrating that the resident came in first, and I gave my symptom story to the resident, who then probably briefed the doctor. So the doctor came in thinking that she understood my case, period. Half of what patients need is to feel heard, and I didn't feel that she had heard me because she was basing it on the secondhand information from the resident. So in the future, getting that interview information directly from the patient will make the patient feel heard and start the relationship in a much more trusting place.
