• This was my first meeting with Dr. Heist and it was an excellent experience. He understood that I was concerned with managing atrial fibrillation, and we discussed my problems with flecainide and possible alternative medications. I explained that I was interested in exploring my possible eligibility for cardiac ablation, so much of our meeting was devoted to his detailed description of the procedure. He went through various imaging and stress tests I have had over the past three years, and said that there was nothing in those tests to indicated that cardiac ablation was not appropriate, and also described technical advances that have made ablation an option for people in their 80s and even 90s. What also impressed me was the rapidity with which an appointment for the ablation was set up, which he will perform, as well as an appointment for the CT scan that is required a few days prior. It was such a relief to finally find myself in the hands of an excellent doctor, one who is so respectful of my concerns and addresses them clearly and thoughtfully.
