Dr. Hsu is board certified in Pediatrics and Allergy/Immunology, and joined the faculty of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in 2014. She has clinical expertise in a broad range of allergic diseases, including pediatric allergy, food allergy, drug allergy, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, asthma, and eczema. Dr. Joyce Hsu grew up surrounded by NASA scientists and the shuttle program. She became interested in pediatrics early on, and spent several years studying immune cell signaling in the laboratories of Max Cooper and Fred Alt. After graduating from Vanderbilt Medical School, she moved to Boston, where she completed both her pediatric residency and allergy/immunology fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital.
As the Director of the BWH Food Allergy Center, Dr. Hsu is passionate about the prevention of food allergy and improvements in both safety and quality of life for patients and families affected by food allergies. The BWH Food Allergy Center offers expedited food allergy evaluation for infants and toddlers, as well as food allergy testing, food challenges, and an active food oral immunotherapy / desensitization program.
