• Dr Issa is a treasure, no two ways about it. I've been under the care of pain clinics most of my life and he's everything they should have been and more. He provides real, effective, and compassionate care based on real science and listening to his patient, rather than anti-science hysteria based in bias. He has a way of gently asking me whether I'm allowing myself to take my meds when I need them and reassuring me that he wouldn't prescribe them if he didn't want me to actually use them. And he understands the trauma around that subject for long term patients like me- the only other people I've encountered who actually understand that are other chronic pain patients. His combined training in both pain medicine and addiction psychiatry should be the standard for all pain specialists. To say Dr Issa has saved my life is not an exaggeration.

• My medical condition is complex. I felt that Dr. Issa truly listened to me (symptoms, treatments that worked or did not, etc) in an open-minded unhurried manner, incorporating my experience into a big picture view of the clinical problem. He clearly communicated the clinical problem in terms I could understand. He offered treatment options that I was not previously aware of. I am pursuing both options and for the first time in over a year I feel optimistic. In addition, I appreciate the pacing of the dialog with Dr. Issa. It is an experience I've not had for some time.
