Dr. Kernodle's clinical practice encompasses the full scope of general vascular surgery with a special focus on complex lower extremity revascularization including open lower extremity bypasses and minimally invasive, endovascular procedures, carotid artery endarterectomy and stenting, and surgical management of aneurysmal diseases of the aorta, abdominal and peripheral arteries. She is skilled at both open surgery and minimally invasive, endovascular surgery and is innovating in robotic vascular surgery applications and techniques. Dr. Kernodle is committed to delivering high-quality, technically excellent care to patients for optimal, patient-centered, and meaningful clinical outcomes.
Dr. Kernodle completed her general surgery training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and she is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. She completed her vascular surgery fellowship training at Brigham and Women's Hospital. She earned a Master of Public Health from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and a Doctor of Philosophy from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed a NIH grant-funded, three-year research fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital focusing on improving clinical outcomes for vulnerable and disadvantaged patient populations. Dr. Kernodle is accomplished in research with over 30 peer-reviewed publications in renowned journals to include the Journal of the American Medical Association – Surgery, Journal of Vascular Surgery, Annals of Vascular Surgery, and Annals of Surgery. She's also authored book chapters in the leading vascular surgery textbooks on the surgical management of peripheral arterial disease and symptomatic carotid artery disease.
Dr. Kernodle is a member of the national Society of Vascular Surgery, the regional New England Society of Vascular Surgery, the Association of Academic Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons.
