• Dan Lee was amazing. He was so kind, so thorough, gave me so much great attention, very thoughtful, went above and beyond. I flew all the way from Minnesota for my care and I could not be more grateful that I came to Mass Eye and Ear and had Dan Lee take care of me. I had a very unique, rare lesion and he took care of it in the best way ever and was so great about following up before and after and checking in and making sure everything went completely seamlessly. It was as perfect as it could be and he's the best.

• Dr Lee is the rare doctor that has a tremendous amount of experience, is very thorough with his diagnosis, and exhibits a great bedside manner. We need more doctors like this. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have the scribe at an additional details from the visits to capture the full conversation. I've seen this with other doctors' office offices so I think it is a possibility.

The sense I got is they were very knowledgeable in their field and had great expertise and they were able to come in and look at my material and know exactly what to do. [redacted] They had a lot of people they were trying to fit at the end of the day and that didn't leave much time for interaction with me and the doctor. And that impacted, I think, my care a little bit in the sense that I didn't understand why the doctor was making the suggestions they were making until I really pressed and tried to stall them leaving the appointment after a few minutes to try to explain why they thought I needed to do what needed to be done when from my perspective whether or not to have surgery, radiation treatment like that, all that was very ambiguous and opaque to me and I wanted answers and like I wanted to understand the strategy space for how my care should proceed because I'm trying to coordinate with a lot of doctors and I also wasn't very convinced that they had seen all the relevant information [redacted]

I was surprised that he was not prepared for the visit and had not reviewed our son's medical records, and I had to bring him up to date in the situation. As this situation has been ongoing for 12 and a half years, the records were rather expensive. Luckily, unbeknownst to us, the issue had healed itself on its own. However, I did expect as we were flying in town to see him for him to be more prepared, as his nurse, [redacted], had really helped us prepare in arriving to that scheduled appointment and providing all the information.

• I don't feel the follow up from surgery was completely thorough. I had a bad hearing test but it took a month to see Dr. Lee again after an emergency reschedule. I'm now on salvage steroid therapy that probably should have started a month ago and I'm fearful the window was missed.

• Dr. Lee is an excellent doctor and he presents a level of attention that I haven't experienced with prior surgeons that I've worked with. He actually sits and talks to you and it doesn't feel like he's trying to rush you out of the office and he explains things. My mom said after my surgery he spent like a good 20 or 30 minutes just sitting down and talking to her about like what my care would entail and what further treatment I would need and etc etc. In my past experience it's usually something surgeons will just hand down to a nurse to do and not bother to do themselves personally and I think that just shows an extra level of attention that Dr. Lee shows his patients and that comes across in appointments as well.

• I was surprised that the top of my chart apparently noted that I have hearing loss. I've never been described that way before and, actually, my main issue is that I have a hearing sensitivity: things seem too loud for me. So it was odd that the audiologist, and the nurse, and the doctor's assistant all began our meeting by speaking extremely loudly to me.
