I think it took that long for us to completely get on the same page as I am not your "stereotypical" patient in that I like to direct my own care (reluctant to do a lot of testing, take unnecessary meds, etc.). • Whenever I see Dr. Lew, she is totally up to speed on my medical history. Having heart disease, kidney disease , high blood pressure (RX managed) and diabetes it became obvious to me that my PCP should be in the same hospital as my nephrologist and cardiologist. This has worked to my extreme benefit over the past four years I've been with Dr. Lew. She explains everything to me in such detail and takes the time to answer my questions and explains what she finds, sees and my next steps. Thorough is the word I always think of when I leave MGB. I am so grateful for the care I'm given with my 3 MGB specialists.

• My husband just started his new job and we have to decide on insurance. I told my husband that only two things matter one being the cost and two being whether or not we can keep Dr. Lew as the PCP. If we cannot keep Dr. Lew we will not take the insurance! That is how wonderful she is.

• recently I have been curious about the number of years Dr. Lew has been my primary care provider. Meant to ask during my visit, but forgot. I believe it must be well over 20 years. Wow! Dr. Lew has always greeted me with a warm smile, listened to and followed up on all my health concerns with honest understanding. We've shared a few humorous stories about silly family experiences, which lends a more human touch to my treatment and I am grateful. I was quite impressed on my last visit when she recommended a chest x-ray because I was wheezing. The results were a little slow getting back to her office, but she literally took time to come out of her office - 3 times, to let me know the x-ray results weren't back and to reassure me that she would stay on until the records arrived. 3 times1 I'm not sure a primary care doctor can be called a "friend", not sure what a trusting relationship like that could be called, but I think of Dr. Lew as a trusted watcher.
