Dr. Macias-Konstantopoulos is a board-certified practicing emergency physician and public health professional who specializes in health equity and population health management. She currently serves as Vice Chair for Diversity, Health Equity, and Inclusion; Director of the Center for Social Justice and Health Equity; and Medical Director of the Patient Care Navigator Program in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). She is the MGH Endowed Chair for Leadership in Emergency Medicine and Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS).
Dr. Macias-Konstantopoulos received her Doctorate in Medicine (MD) from the Larner College of Medicine at The University of Vermont, her Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. She completed her residency training at the combined Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency Program in 2007 (MGH / Brigham and Women’s Hospital) followed by a two-year Global Health Innovations and Leadership Fellowship through the MGH Center for Global Health and the MGH Department of Emergency Medicine Global Health Innovation Laboratory (formerly, the Division for Global Health & Human Rights).
Dr. Macias-Konstantopoulos has served as Director of the Human Trafficking Initiative since completing her fellowship and was the founding Executive and Medical Director of the Mass General Freedom Clinic, an innovative primary and preventative health care clinic for human trafficking victims and survivors that won the 2014 Partnership for Freedom national competition. The Mass General Freedom Clinic currently also serves as the medical home for a unique MGH collaboration with the nonprofit Hostage US, through which trauma-informed medical care and care coordination is provided for repatriated captives and their families. She is active in various state and federal groups focused on educational and policy advocacy efforts related to human trafficking.
She additionally serves on the MGH Equity in Clinical Care Council, the MGH Equity Policy and Practice Review Committee, and the MGH Executive Committee on Community Health. She is a Community of Practice Representative at the Mass General Brigham Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and member of the HMS Diversity Council.
