• He was more interested in explaining things to student and I was kept on pins and needles thinking they were really seeing me to help me it was more about them getting info for their research. Basically gave me no valuable information and walked out of there thinking they don't know much about Nione and what causes it and when I can see improvement or anything that means anything . It was a wasteful stressful 2.5 hours

• Not sure the purpose of this telehealth appointment that I waited for--the provider had not looked at the new imaging that my optometrist had completed. Told me he did not think I had a certain condition based on lack of symptoms and imaging from 4 years ago but then told me I could alleviate the condition that he did not believe I had by losing weight. He told me he knew I was working on losing weight (I'm not) and that I shouldn't feel bad about my weight (I don't and told him so). Seemed to make a lot of assumptions about how I should feel about my body without asking me any questions. He could work on being more thoughtful in his approach and working with patients as partners in their health.

I did not request an appointment, but was contacted by Dr. Rizzo's office, presumably because the issues that brought me previously to the MEEI emergency room were serious enough that in his supervisory role he must have thought a follow-up with him personally was warranted. The key issues I was facing was whether various eye events I had recently experienced signaled a possible return of Giant Cell Arteritis, a serious condition that can cause blindness. Dr. Rizzo's extremely thorough examination confirmed MEEI's previous view that GCA had not returned, and he distinguished clearly between events that might signal GCA and those I recently experienced, which were liked caused by dry eyes, and hence not serious. He answered all my questions with great detail and patience. He distinguished between different kinds of dry eye tear drops and which would likely be best for me. He suggested that a recurrence of similar eye events should likely not be treated as a harbinger of GCA. In every single respect, Dr.Rizzo was just exceptional. I am very grateful to him.

We were early for the appointment and we were actually taken in about five minutes after we got there, which was very unusual in my experience in similar situations. While we weren't able to necessarily fix my medical issue, that was not any fault of the provider. It's just the way it is. And I appreciated the demeanor and the bedside manner of everybody involved in explaining the situation to me in layman's terms and would certainly recommend Mass Eye and Ear and this provider to anybody who also has a similar need.
