Joseph J Taylor, MD, PhD

Dr. Taylor is a neuroscientist and board-certified psychiatrist specializing in brain stimulation and interventional psychiatry. He is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and holds the Jonathan F. Borus, MD Endowed Chair in Psychiatry at Mass General Brigham. At Mass General Brigham, he serves as Director of Noninvasive Neuromodulation Clinical Trials and as a liaison to the MGB Neurosciences Institute (NSI). At Brigham and Women’s Hospital, he is Medical Director of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in the Center for Brain Circuit Therapeutics and Director of the Interventional Psychiatry Research Program. He is also an Associate Program Director and Research Track Co-Director for the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School Psychiatry Residency Program.

Dr. Taylor’s research focuses on developing and testing brain circuit–based treatments for neuropsychiatric illness. His work uses connectome-based network mapping to identify candidate treatment targets and prospectively evaluates these targets in clinical trials of brain stimulation. His research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Sidney R. Baer, Jr. Foundation, Baszucki Group, Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, Home Base Foundation, Harvard Medical School, and Mass General Brigham.
