After graduating from residency in internal medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Dr. Turbett completed a fellowship in infectious diseases with a focus on infections in immunocompromised hosts at the combined MGH/Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) program. She also completed a fellowship in an ACGME approved program in Medical Microbiology at MGH in 2016. In January of 2017 she formally joined the faculty in the Division of Infectious Diseases at MGH and more recently, she has become an Assistant Director of the Microbiology Laboratory.

Through her training, she has developed an interest in laboratory stewardship. For the past few years she has taken the lead role in the microbiology laboratory’s galactomannan stewardship program. Her interest is to continue to expand the role of laboratory stewardship with the goal of creating more accurate, efficient, and cost effective approaches to the use of diagnostic tests in the clinical setting.

In addition to her time as an infectious disease and microbiology fellow, she has also completed a 1 year position as chief resident in internal medicine at MGH. She organized over 300 didactic sessions on a multitude of medicine topics for 1st through 3rd year residents and was integral in the creation of the medicine residency curriculum for the 2014 academic year. Her role also included many informal teaching opportunities through daily morning and afternoon resident reports as well as on the medicine teaching service as an attending for 14 weeks. As part of her role with the infectious diseases division and the microbiology laboratory she has continued to expand her role in teaching by assuming the role of the microbiology editor for the Mass General Brigham ID images website. She also oversee the education of the ID fellows during their month spent in the microbiology laboratory.
