• Surprised to have a male doctor (resident?) in the room without being asked as I requested a female provider who was present as she was teaching. I understand that but it surprised me as I wasn't clued in on this situation. But I was fine and found the male provider to be very empathetic and professional. Glad MgB is training more doctors.

• Dr. Bargen is one of my favorite doctors. She listens, she's helpful, she has done surgery on me, and she was the best. I really appreciate her, I respect her, and she's very, very smart and intelligent in what she does. And she does literally care about her patients so much. I love seeing her whenever I have to, which is not usual, but when I do, I'm very happy that she's my doctor.

• I was not satisfied with this surgical consult and left without being confident that I can make a well-informed treatment decision. Doctor seemed to have given only limited reading of my case record prior to seeing me. She took a good history, appeared to do a good exam, and seems to be a very competent surgeon. However, there was a real asymmetry of information. I have a problem she has seen lots of times before and it's just another day at the office for her. But it was new and significant for me. She talked very quickly. I had to ask her go back and explain her diagnostic observations and walk through possible treatment options. Despite having a notepad and pen with me, I couldn't take notes while I was half naked and trying to understand what she was telling me. I asked as many questions as I could think of. Even so, I worry that I didn't ask about everything that was relevant. I don't feel that there was adequate support of my decision making as a patient during this visit. It's not enough to just to tell me that it's my choice whether to have a surgery or not.
