Silas L Wang, MD

Dr. Wang has been a full-time member of the Mass Eye and Ear Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Cataract Consultation Service since 2016. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist providing general eye care and specializing in cataract surgery.

After graduating summa cum laude in biomedical engineering from Harvard College, Dr. Wang completed his medical degree at Yale School of Medicine. He completed an internship at Yale-New Haven Health’s Greenwich Hospital and his ophthalmology residency at New York University and the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Institute. Subsequently, he joined a private practice in New York City while also serving as a Clinical Instructor in Ophthalmology at New York University prior to moving to Boston and joining Mass Eye and Ear.

As a clinician educator, Dr. Wang has a strong interest in teaching and mentoring medical students and resident physicians as an Instructor on the faculty of Harvard Medical School. He was named Surgical Teacher of the Year by the Harvard Ophthalmology residents in 2019. He is the co-director of the Harvard Ophthalmology Research Scholars Program, which provides opportunities and support for medical students from underrepresented backgrounds from across the country who are interested in careers in ophthalmology. He has also volunteered with the Indian Health Service on reservations in Rosebud, South Dakota, and Shiprock, New Mexico. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
