Michael J Young, MD, MPhil

Michael Young, MD, MPhil is a neurologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is Associate Director of the MGH NeuroRecovery Clinic. After earning his MD with Honors from Harvard Medical School and an MPhil in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge as a Gates Cambridge Scholar, Dr. Young completed neurology residency and a fellowship in neurorecovery at Mass General Brigham and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, specializing in the longitudinal care of patients with complex neurological conditions affecting autonomous function, consciousness, or cognition. Dr. Young's research focuses on improving neurological care through neurotechnology, neuroethics, and neuroscience. As a member of the Lab for NeuroImaging of Coma and Consciousness and the Center for Neurotechnology and Neurorecovery, he is devoted to clinical translation of neurotechnologies to detect, predict and support function, autonomy, and consciousness in patients with complex neurological injury or illness.
