Sahar F. Zafar, MD is a neurointensivist and epileptologist. She is the Medical Director for Inpatient Neurology, and is Co-Director of the Center for Value-Based Healthcare and Sciences. Dr. Zafar devotes her clinical time in the MGH Neurosciences ICU, and is part of the Epilepsy Service. She sees patient in the MGH Epilepsy Clinic.
Her clinical interests include acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, seizures and status epilepticus in critically ill patients. She provides long term follow up care to epilepsy patients, and for patients with brain injuries such as stroke and trauma with seizures . Her research interests include critical care EEG monitoring, anti-seizure medication treatment in patients with brain injuries and seizures, and post ICU discharge health outcomes.

I would absolutely not pick another provider for my neurological issues other than the provider I have. She is absolutely lovely, a great communicator, and I'm so happy that I found her through MGH. Thank you so much to her, and thank you so much for the system for helping me find her. Thank you.

I like Dr. Zafar quite a bit. I waited a long time to get an appointment and it was well worth it. She seemed to understand my problem better than most doctors I've ever seen. And she did her homework before I got in the office. She knew my background and my medical history well.

I always have a pleasant and informative conversation with Dr.Zafar whenever I have any interactions with her( e- visit ,or in person ) and she has helped me tremendously in treating my seizures with the right medications to stop my seizures. And Dr.Zafar always gets back to me with an answer, if I send her a question thru an email in a prompt manner.

Dr Zafar is a really great doctor. She takes the time to listen and has managed patient care really well. I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing a neurologist.

Sahar Zafar is the best. She reviewed my entire 10 page history before the virtual appt, and asked about an MRI going back to 2000. We travel 3 hrs to get to Mass General. When a Doctor comes out to the waiting room to greet you, you know your in competent caring hands
