Our approach to sleep medicine
Our sleep specialists and respiratory therapists work closely with you to find and treat the root causes of your sleep problems. We want you to feel supported and comfortable during the entire process.
Diagnosing sleep disorders
Our services include in-depth evaluations, comprehensive sleep studies, and convenient at-home sleep apnea testing. Using the latest testing technologies, we gather precise details about your breathing, movements, and behaviors during sleep. We also offer inpatient consultations for patients with known or suspected sleep disorders.
How a sleep study works
You’ll meet with a sleep technician when you arrive at one of our sleep labs. After your evaluation, you’ll get comfortable in your private suite, which has a television and a comfortable bed. We’ll monitor your sleep and breathing patterns throughout the night and give you oxygen if you need it. In the morning, you can shower in your private bathroom and head out for your day by 7 a.m.
After your sleep study
Our specialists will evaluate and interpret your sleep study data. We use this information to create your personalized treatment plan and send the results to your doctor. We may refer you to specialists, such as a sleep dentist or an ENT surgeon, if you need additional care.
Specialized sleep clinics
We offer specialized clinics for people with REM sleep behavior disorder, restless legs syndrome, and sleep disorders related to neurodegenerative disease. These clinics provide targeted care for complex sleep issues and offer the opportunity to participate in clinical trials.
Accredited sleep medicine care
All of our locations are accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). AASM is the gold standard for sleep centers and shows we meet rigorous standards for patient care, safety, and quality.
Sleep research leadership
Mass General Brigham is home to one of the premier research programs in the world for sleep and circadian rhythm disorders. Our researchers seek new treatments for sleep apnea, insomnia, and other conditions. We also believe promoting good sleep health can help prevent many diseases.
