We offer convenient, high-quality virtual urgent care services for many health conditions and minor injuries. Available for individuals ages 3 and up. 


Schedule virtual urgent care

If you are an existing Mass General Brigham patient with a Patient Gateway account, you can schedule a virtual urgent care appointment via Patient Gateway. Log in and schedule an appointment for a specific time slot later today or tomorrow. 

You may also schedule a visit for yourself or someone else if you do not already have a Patient Gateway account. Learn more and schedule an appointment 


Arrange care with your Primary Care Provider

Same day or next day virtual visits may also be available with your primary care provider's office. If you wish to arrange a visit with your primary care provider's office, please contact their office directly to determine availability. 


How does virtual urgent care work?

At Mass General Brigham, online urgent care is available to anyone who has an internet connection and appropriate device. Virtual urgent care is conducted over a secure health care platform. Using a smart phone, tablet, or computer, patients can connect to our urgent care providers digitally and discuss health concerns

Frequently Asked Questions

Virtual urgent care visits are available to patients (ages 3+) in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Your cost-sharing for these urgent care services will depend on your health plan type. See a list of insurances we accept. Note: We do not accept international insurance plans. If you have questions, please contact the Member Services Department of your health plan for specifics regarding your coverage. 

Mass General Brigham will work with your health plan to bill for any amount owed after your visit. By participating in a virtual urgent care visit with Mass General Brigham, you agree to be financially responsible for payment for the services provided to you. If it is later determined that your insurance coverage changed or was not active on the day of your visit, or does not cover virtual urgent care services, you agree to be responsible for payment of the visit and you authorize Mass General Brigham to charge you the cost of the service.

For self-pay patients, the cost of a virtual urgent care visit is $79 and payment will be asked for at the time of visit. The $79 cost only covers the virtual visit and does not cover the cost of any lab charges, imaging orders, additional visits, or referrals.

Yes. Virtual urgent care is covered under Medicare Part B.

Whether you are a new or established patient, you can expect that a Mass General Brigham provider will listen to your needs and provide a plan of care.

You will visit with a Mass General Brigham Urgent Care provider through the browser on your smart phone, tablet, or computer. 

Your After Visit Summary will be available in Patient Gateway.

If you do not have a Patient Gateway account, you will be asked to create an account during the scheduling process. Your Mass General Brigham care team will have access to the notes from your visit. If you have a primary care physician outside Mass General Brigham, we can share your records with your consent.

To ensure your virtual visit is successful, please confirm that you are using a smart phone, tablet, or computer with the following features:           

  • A working camera, speakers and microphone
  • The most recent versions of any internet browser you plan to use

It is recommended that you arrive to your virtual visit 15 minutes early to ensure your technology is working properly and troubleshoot any issues.  

It is also recommended that you find a quiet and private place to have your virtual urgent care visit.

Virtual urgent care visits are available to individuals (ages 3+) in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Individuals ages 3 – 17 need to be accompanied by a parent, guardian or medical proxy.  

Both current patients of Mass General Brigham and new patients may use virtual urgent care.  

  • Yes.  Both current and new patients can schedule a visit for someone else. You do not need to have a Patient Gateway account to schedule a visit for another person. 
  • However, if you have a Patient Gateway account, please login to schedule for someone else. This will make the scheduling process faster.  
  • Adults can schedule a visit for a child, another family member or friend. Parent or legal guardian must accompany a child under 18 during the visit.

There is an additional charge if you need any x-rays or labs done.  Check with your insurance to learn your cost sharing for these services.  

Your urgent care provider will send an expedited referral for x-ray and/or lab work to a Mass General Brigham Urgent Care center near you.  If you need only lab work done, you will also have access to a network of labs located throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
