Giving in memory

Giving in memory of a loved one or cherished friend is a meaningful way to fondly remember the impact that individual had on your life. Be they a parent, family member, co-worker or friend, memorial gifts are especially impactful as they support the ongoing work of Cooley.

Many families choose to ask that charitable gifts be made in memory of their loved one in lieu of flowers. The online gift form provides a place to indicate who the gift remembers, or gifts can be mailed to Cooley Dickinson Development Office with a note that it is in memory of the individual.

Development staff can assist families in establishing memorial gifts and the appropriate language for an obituary. Or a family can include a simple statement in an obituary such as: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that be memorial gifts be made to Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Memorial gifts may be made online or sent to the Development Office, PO Box 329, Northampton MA 01060.

Honoring great care

Tributes – a gift in honor of someone – not only support the hospital but often provide unexpected joy and recognition to the individual they honor. They may be gift in honor of a special occasion, to recognize extraordinary care, or to indicate your respect for a volunteer or caregiver.

We will notify the honoree(s) of your gift and forward any special message that you would like to convey. We will notify the family or person you specify of memorial gifts, though we will not share the amount of the donations.

Please contact Development office with any questions at 413-582-2255.

Honor a caregiver

Every day at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, people experience caregiving that fills them with gratitude. Maybe a nurse’s sense of humor made you laugh when you wanted to cry. Perhaps a doctor showed heartfelt concern not just to your husband, but to your entire family. Or maybe another care provider showed gentleness when handling your ailing family member.

A way to express your gratitude. If there’s someone at Cooley Dickinson whom you’d especially like to thank, there’s a way to publicly honor this person while also supporting the hospital.

When you make a Gift of Caring, a captioned photograph of your honoree will be displayed in the North Building lobby at the hospital. Your Gift of Caring supports everything from the hospital’s programs and services to the latest medical technologies.

Healing Garden Engraved Brick Program

The Healing Garden at Cooley Dickinson Hospital is a place of beauty, quiet, and natural light that is designed to benefit the mind, body, and soul.

In the space between the former Locust Street entrance and the Kittredge Surgery Center/North building, the garden offers a sanctuary for mobile patients, visitors and staff who seek quiet time and a chance to connect with nature and self. Patients unable to enjoy the outdoor garden have access to garden views from several treatment areas, hospital corridors and patient rooms.

A lighted, bench-lined walkway runs alongside the new building where bricks, donated by community members, are placed. Take this opportunity to request an engraved brick to honor a loved one, celebrate your recovery or to convey a message of hope and inspiration.

To make your gift to the Healing Garden, complete the form onlineor call the Cooley Dickinson Development Office at 413-582-4483 for more information.
