Keeping our community strong
On New Year’s Day 1886, the first hospital in Hampshire County opened its doors with 12 beds, a doctor’s chamber, and an operating room. A generous bequest left by Caleb Cooley Dickinson made this momentous occasion possible.
For over 130 years, Cooley Dickinson Hospital has relied on the generosity of individuals who, like Caleb Cooley Dickinson, understand the critical role a hospital plays in ensuring the health and well being of our community.
Today, given the high costs of technological medical advances and retaining outstanding medical staff, the need for charitable support is greater than ever. Furthermore, our affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital empowers us to provide world-class medical care within a community hospital setting. The cost of such excellence comes with a price. We are not reimbursed for clinical oversight and management, telemedicine, and other technical costs that enable us to provide direct, real-time access to MGH physicians in Boston. Help improve the health and vibrancy of our community by supporting your local world-class hospital.
