Emergency Department Patient Transfers

Our hospitals across New England are experiencing record numbers of patients needing care. If you require further hospital care after your Emergency Department evaluation, you may be asked to be transferred and admitted to another hospital in our Mass General Brigham system or one of our clinically affiliated hospitals, all of which are listed below.

Patients will have the opportunity to go straight to a room at a local, Mass General Brigham-affiliated hospital instead of experiencing potentially long wait times in the Emergency Department at our largest hospitals. By working together across the Mass General Brigham health system, we can get you to the right place at the right time, with the right team for the right care.

Brigham and Women’s Hospital is a co-founder Mass General Brigham and is consistently recognized as one of America’s best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The Brigham is a world-class academic medical center and a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.
