Our approach to blood disorders care
We offer expert care with a compassionate approach. We make sure you understand your diagnosis and treatment options and offer support for your physical, emotional, and social well-being.
History of innovation
Mass General Brigham has a rich history of contributing to blood disorders care. Our innovations date back to 1934, when Drs. William P. Murphy and George R. Minot received the Nobel Prize for their investigations into liver therapy that led to the first treatment for pernicious anemia.
Research that advances care
We prioritize research to develop new and more effective treatments. Ongoing scientific studies include:
- Anemia in older adults and in people living with HIV
- Platelet development and their role in disease
- Specific conditions such as myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative syndromes, sickle cell disease, and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis
- The role of bone marrow cells in tumor growth
Comprehensive team
Our blood disorders specialists, nurse practitioners, and social workers provide comprehensive, personalized care. We work closely with pathologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine specialists, and experts in blood transfusions to ensure every aspect of your treatment works seamlessly together.
Care for international patients
We’re honored to care for patients from around the world. As one of the largest centers for adults with blood and bone marrow diseases, we provide expert diagnosis and treatment for international patients seeking advanced hematology care.
