Targeting neural circuits to treat brain disorders
Conditions like Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, depression, and dystonia can interfere with movement, mood, and daily function. While medications are often the first step, they are not effective for everyone.
Our specialists identify and precisely target the brain circuits driving symptoms. We are home to one of the few centers in the world to offer the full range of neuromodulation therapies.

Our approach to care
The Center for Brain Circuit Therapeutics brings together experts in neurology, psychiatry, neurosurgery, and neuroradiology.
Your evaluation and treatment planning are coordinated across disciplines, often in a single day and at one location. For example, patients being evaluated for DBS may see multiple specialists and complete imaging in back-to-back appointments, allowing our team to quickly identify affected brain circuits and recommend a personalized treatment plan.
We treat neurological and psychiatric symptoms by focusing on the brain circuits driving them. Once we identify these circuits, we use a precise neuromodulation therapy to target them and bring them under control.
We are home to one of the few centers worldwide to offer the full spectrum of neuromodulation options, including:
- Deep brain stimulation (DBS)
- Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
- MRI-guided focused ultrasound (MRg-FUS)
We have dedicated operating suits for all our therapies, allowing us to directly target brain circuits:
- Operating suites for MRI-guided “asleep” DBS that do not require patients to be awake during the procedure
- Treatment suites for MRI-guided TMS, including robotic TMS for higher accuracy and consistency
- One of the country’s first MRgFUS suites
- Our teams have long been leaders in neuromodulation innovation. For example, we are home to the first hospital to perform over 800 FUS procedures.
