Leaders in managing metabolic syndrome and cardiac risk
As heart disease remains the leading cause of death and disability for Americans, everyone requires attention to decreasing their risk. Our cardiovascular disease prevention program helps you identify, manage, and treat factors that increase cardiovascular risk, using a wide range of tools including exercise, nutrition, lifestyle changes, as well as safe, proven therapies.
If you have heart disease, we’ll help you find ways to protect your heart, reduce complications, and manage your condition. We offer cardiac rehabilitation for those who’ve had a heart attack, stent placement, stroke, heart surgery, or treatment for blocked arteries. If you haven’t had a heart problem but are concerned about your risk, we help prevent problems from occurring.

Our approach to cardiovascular disease prevention
You’ll get a comprehensive evaluation from a physician and nutritionist that includes:
- A detailed medical and physical exam
- Lab tests, including cholesterol, blood sugar measurements, and newer tests
- Imaging for early detection of heart disease, if needed
- Body composition analysis
- Nutritional assessment
- A review of your weight, diet, and exercise history
- A family history assessment
We’ll use that data to create your personalized plan focused on weight management, nutrition, and physical activity.
Our programs consider special risk factors for certain populations, including across racial and ethnic groups, that may be missed by standard health assessments.
For example, recent studies have shown that South Asians face higher rates of heart and vascular disease, despite being mostly vegetarian and non-smoking. South Asian Heart Health & Nutrition Program focuses on uncovering hidden risk factors for South Asians and providing culturally appropriate care.
Additional resources include providing medical care in patients’ primary language, including Spanish and Portuguese.
We have contributed to global advances in heart disease prevention and continue to do research in obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, hypertriglyceridemia, and other conditions. We are also highly involved in finding new strategies to ensure people get access to treatment.
We are actively exploring how genes affect heart disease and how tools like remote monitoring and smart phone apps can encourage healthier habits. Some patients may be able to participate in clinical trials for new medicines and tests.
