Abortion care and services

We provide abortion care in a safe, supportive, and confidential setting. Our services include:

  • Medication and procedural abortion across gestational ages
  • Options for pain control or anesthesia
  • Counseling about birth control if desired

At Brigham and Women’s Hospital, streamlined care is provided in a specialized ambulatory procedural unit with anesthesia, and ultrasound services. At Massachusetts General Hospital, procedural care may be provided in an office setting or in the main operating room with anesthesia.

Miscarriage care and support

We provide miscarriage care in a safe, supportive, and confidential setting. Our services include:

  • Medication and procedural management of miscarriage across gestational ages
  • Options for pain control or anesthesia
  • Counseling about birth control if desired
Contraceptive device placement and removal
We provide placement and removal of intrauterine devices (IUDs) and contraceptive implants. When needed, we use pain control, ultrasound guidance, or anesthesia to support your comfort and safety. At Brigham and Women's Hospital, when sedation is required, care is provided in a specialized ambulatory procedural unit.
Family planning with multidisciplinary care
We care for patients with complex or chronic medical conditions who may need to prevent pregnancy during treatment or because pregnancy could affect their health. Our team works closely with other specialists at Mass General Brigham to coordinate care and manage contraception or abortion services safely.
