A history of expertise
Since the founding of our predecessor hospitals in the 19th century, our clinicians, educators and researchers have achieved many firsts in women's health, including:
- Discovery of the causes of cervical cancer in “DES daughters”
- Development of noninvasive fetal heart monitoring
- First administration of anesthesia during childbirth

Safe, comprehensive obstetric and neonatal care
We deliver more babies than any center in the region and offer the most neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) beds in Massachusetts. Our teams provide the safest, most advanced care for mothers and newborns, combining clinical expertise with compassion and family-centered support.
