Infertility and Reproductive Surgery Program
Leaders in fertility care and reproductive medicine
Infertility is the inability to get pregnant after 12 months of regular, unprotected sex for women younger than 35 or after six months for women age 35 or older.
Mass General Brigham is home to one of the nation’s leading infertility and reproductive medicine programs. We provide expert evaluation, advanced treatment, and compassionate care for people at every stage of their fertility journey. With a full-service, in-house laboratory and one of the nation’s largest teams of board-certified fertility specialists, we use the latest technology and evidence-based therapies to deliver effective, personalized care.

Our approach to fertility care
Treatments for cancer and other conditions can affect your future fertility, or you may simply want to preserve fertility to build a family later in life. We serve people of all gender identities who want to preserve their fertility. We offer the latest techniques, such as:
- Egg freezing
- Embryo freezing
- Sperm freezing
- Ovarian tissue freezing
Our surgeons perform reproductive procedures to help restore and support fertility. These procedures may be used to:
- Break up pelvic or uterine scar tissue that can interfere with conception
- Correct congenital uterine abnormalities to improve pregnancy outcomes
- Treat ectopic pregnancies
- Remove ovarian cysts, uterine polyps, or fibroids that may affect fertility
- Reverse tubal ligations for patients who wish to conceive again
- Treat endometriosis while actively receiving fertility care
Certain genetic conditions can impact fertility or lead to recurrent pregnancy loss. By combining IVF with genetic testing, we help reduce the risk of passing on inherited conditions and reduce the risk of chromosomal abnormalities in offspring.
We begin by testing prospective parents for specific genetic disorders. We then use preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to screen embryos created through IVF and select embryos without identified genetic conditions for transfer to the uterus.
