Our approach to interventional pulmonology
Your care starts with an in-depth evaluation and review of prior imaging studies. We use this information to create your personalized diagnosis and treatment plan.
Lung diagnostics
We use specialized procedures to diagnose lung conditions. Our on-site labs ensure timely and effective results. We also have an advanced thoracic intensive care unit (ICU) for higher-level diagnostic care when you need it.
Diagnostic tools we use include:
Bronchoscopy
Endobronchial ultrasound
Electromagnetic navigation
Pleural biopsy
Benefits of minimally invasive treatment
Interventional pulmonary procedures typically reduce pain, shorten your recovery time, and decrease the risk of complications. Most people spend less time — or even no time — in the hospital and return to their normal activities faster.
Advanced lung cancer treatment
We offer advanced diagnostics like DNA lung-cell sampling, a less invasive way to look for the genes that cause lung cancer. These tools help us create highly personalized, targeted treatments for cancer.
A team approach to care
When you’re here, you benefit from a large team of experts from across The Lung Center and beyond. Your interventional pulmonologist works with a range of specialists to coordinate all aspects of your care. Your care team may include:
- Thoracic surgeons
- Rheumatologists
- Infectious disease doctors
- Oncologists
- Otolaryngologists
- Thoracic radiologists
- Thoracic anesthesiologists
Advancing pulmonary disease research
Our researchers are at the leading edge of discoveries in pulmonary medicine. We’ve pioneered advanced 3D imaging for the clearest views yet of the airways. We've also developed bio-absorbable stents to open airways. And through our clinical trials, you have access to the next generation of lung therapies.
