Comprehensive bipolar disorder care for children and teens
Mass General Brigham offers specialized care for children and teens with bipolar disorder, delivered by experienced pediatric and mental health specialists. Because bipolar disorder often occurs alongside other conditions, our teams take a whole-child approach to care.
We provide a range of services, including outpatient psychiatry, intensive programs, and school-based support. One example is the Arlington School, affiliated with McLean Hospital, which combines academic and mental health support.

Growth-oriented care for children with bipolar disorder
Children and teens with bipolar disorder benefit from coordinated care across specialties. Depending on your child’s needs, their care team may include:
- Psychiatrists
- Psychologists
- Therapists
- Nurses
- Care coordinators
These specialists work together to create a personalized treatment plan that supports symptom management, emotional development, and family involvement.
The Arlington School, affiliated with McLean Hospital, offers a college-preparatory curriculum paired with on-site clinical support. The program meets all academic standards for higher education while allowing flexibility to adapt a student’s schooling to their needs.
Students are supported by a dedicated clinical case manager who provides weekly counseling. Through individualized accommodations and integrated mental health services, students can continue their education while developing skills to manage bipolar disorder.
