Our approach to bone health
We combine personalized assessment, prevention, and treatment of metabolic bone conditions to help you maintain strong bones, prevent fractures, and support long-term bone health.
Prioritizing prevention
Osteoporosis is the most common cause of weak bones and often has no visible symptoms until the first fracture occurs. We work to prevent these fractures by finding the problem early and using different treatments, including lifestyle changes to lower the risk.
Innovative methods for accurate diagnosis
Mass General Brigham was integral in developing dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), a test to measure how strong bones are, and was the first to use it in a hospital setting. As the gold standard for bone density measurement, DXA is a fast, safe, and pain-free approach to measuring bone density and identifying fracture risk. We also use a special test called quantitative computed tomography, an innovative, high-resolution CT scanner, to measure bone density.
Personalized care
We work with you to develop strategies that address bone loss or fracture risk. Our team of specialists determines the right combination of medication, nutrition, and lifestyle changes to safely and effectively strengthen your bones. We provide the support you need to prevent fractures, improve your mobility, and support your long-term bone health.
