Financial Assistance
State programs
If you live in Massachusetts, you may be able to get health insurance or help paying your health care bills through a state program like MassHealth, the Health Connector, or Health Safety Net. Each program has different rules and income limits.
Discounts
If you have medical bills because you do not have insurance, or because your health insurance did not cover your care, you may qualify for a discount.

Payment plans
You may set up a 0% interest monthly payment plan for any bill, even a bill for a health insurance co-payment, co-insurance, or deductible. Log into Patient Gateway to set up today or call 617-726-3884 for details.
Please be aware self-pay estimates for scheduled elective self-pay services are required to be paid at 100% after the allowed 25% discount. Payment plans are for post-service bills.

Qualification screening for financial assistance
For those with health insurance or need help paying your health care bills through a state program like MassHealth, the Health Connector, or Health Safety Net.
You may qualify if:
- You live in Massachusetts, and
- You meet income requirements (each program has different rules and income limits)
How to apply
- Visit a patient financial counselor at your hospital or health center (see the contact a financial counselor section for more information).
- Visit www.MAhealthconnector.org.
70% to 100% discount on bills for an emergency or other medically necessary services, depending on your household income.
You may qualify if:
- You do not qualify for public insurance programs in your home state, and
- Your bills are for an emergency or other medically necessary services, and
- Your household income is below 301% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, and
- Your bills are not for insurance co-payments, co-insurance, or deductibles.
How to apply
- Complete and submit a paper application (found in the financial application section) along with ID and income verification.
- Call 617-726-3884 or use our Financial Assistance Application (found in the section below).
- Visit a patient financial counselor at your hospital or health center if you need help (see the contact a financial counselor section for more information).
60% to 100% discount on bills for care received at Spaulding Rehabilitation Network and McLean Hospital, depending on your household income.
You may qualify if:
- You do not qualify for public insurance programs in your home state, and
- Your bills are for care received at Spaulding Rehabilitation Network or McLean Hospital, and
- Your bills are not for insurance co-payments, co-insurance, or deductibles.
How to apply
- Complete and submit a paper application (found in the financial application section) along with ID and income verification.
- Call 617-726-3884 or use our Financial Assistance Application (found in the section below).
- Visit a patient financial counselor at your hospital or health center if you need help (see the contact a financial counselor section for more information).
25% discount on any bills.
You may qualify if:
- Your bills are not for insurance co-payments, co-insurance, or deductibles, and
- You pay or set up a payment plan within two months of the date on your first bill.
