Our approach to giant cell arteritis care
Giant cell arteritis can cause symptoms such as headaches, often near the temples, scalp tenderness, jaw pain or fatigue while chewing, and pain or stiffness in the shoulders or hips, known as polymyalgia rheumatica.
Prompt diagnosis is essential because untreated giant cell arteritis can lead to permanent vision loss. Our Fast Track Program provides rapid evaluation by specialists with expertise in giant cell arteritis. When appropriate, we perform a temporal artery ultrasound the same day to help diagnose the condition quickly and begin treatment as soon as possible.
