What to expect at your heart valve appointment and how to prepare
Your first visit focuses on understanding your heart valve condition to determine a treatment plan. During this appointment, your cardiologist or heart valve specialist will:
- Ask you about your symptoms, review your medical history, and discuss any prior heart testing
- Recommend additional imaging studies, such as an echocardiogram
- Discuss your treatment options and lifestyle management
Please bring:
- A list of your current medications
- Copies of recent heart imaging or testing, if available
- Information about any prior heart treatment
- Notes about your symptoms, including when they started and how they affect you
