Protecting your heart

Adults with congenital heart disease often require specialized care beyond what a primary cardiologist can offer. If you have transitioned from your pediatric cardiologist, an adult congenital heart disease specialist can help guide your ongoing care.

Our team offers personalized, lifelong care for patients ages 16 years and older with congenital heart disease and related illnesses. We specialize in valve disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, pregnancy care, and multidisciplinary surgical and interventional cardiology management.

We strive to take care of patients close to home, with several community clinics throughout the region, and we offer virtual visits for patients living in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Our clinicians are recognized educators and experts in their fields and participate in clinical trials of cutting-edge technologies.

Care for every life stage
We offer expert care for every stage of your life, whether you’re transitioning from pediatric care, planning a family, or participating in sports. We also treat people needing complex care for conditions involving other organs and those who need a heart transplant.
Collaborative, multi-specialty teams

Our physicians work with specialists from multiple clinical disciplines to provide care from many different perspectives, including:

  • Cardiac genetics
  • Cardiac imaging
  • Cardiac and thoracic surgery
  • Obstetrics and gynecology
  • Electrophysiology
  • Fetal echocardiography
  • Heart failure and transplantation
  • Hematology
  • Interventional cardiology (heart catheterization)
  • Maternal fetal medicine
  • Neurology
  • Pediatric cardiology
  • Pulmonary care
  • Nephrology
  • Hepatology
  • Social work
  • Sports medicine and cardiology
Expert diagnosis for congenital heart disease
Our cardiac imaging experts are specially trained to detect heart defects and changes. We use advanced diagnostic tools like cardiac MRI, CT, 3D echocardiography, and cardiac catheterization.
Comprehensive, whole-person treatment
We take a holistic approach to your treatment. Our focus includes answering your questions and guiding you through lifestyle changes, cardiac rehab, surgery, and any other treatments you need to help you live a full, healthy life.
Support for young people
Teens and young adults need care focused on their unique needs. We’ll be there for you as you transition from pediatric to adult care. We work with your pediatric provider and connect you with support from other young people with similar experiences. We have particular expertise in family planning for people with heart conditions, as well as programs for athletes that support long-term heart health.
Excellence in surgery and minimally invasive procedures

Our surgeons are experts in first-time procedures and reoperations for congenital heart defects. We perform everything from routine hole closures to complex Fontan revision repairs and valve replacements.

When possible, we use minimally invasive, innovative techniques instead of open-heart surgery. These catheter-based procedures use smaller incisions and offer a faster recovery than traditional surgery.

Our heart and vascular specialists

Your care is supported by a team of specialists who work together to understand your cardiovascular condition and create a personalized treatment plan. This team may include cardiologists, cardiac and vascular surgeons, interventional specialists, radiologists, and experienced nurses.
