Renowned lymphoma expertise
Lymphoma occurs when lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, become cancerous and grow out of control. All lymphomas are highly treatable; many are curable, and some require lifelong care.
The lymphoma specialists at the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute offer comprehensive and specialized care for all types of lymphomas. Because we consult on so many lymphomas, our experts are highly skilled in diagnosing and treating these cancers, which can lead to better outcomes for patients.
Team approach to lymphoma care
We offer advanced diagnostic tests, including:
- Biopsy
- Advanced microscopy
- Molecular and genetic testing
- Chromosomal microarray analysis
- Flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry
- Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)
- Imaging tests, such as MRI, CT scan, and positron emission tomography (PET) scan
Cutaneous lymphomas are rare non-Hodgkin lymphomas that affect the skin. Also called skin lymphoma, these cancers develop in white blood cells and are classified as either cutaneous T-cell lymphomas or cutaneous B-cell lymphomas. Because these conditions are uncommon, they require specialized expertise.
Our team treats all types of cutaneous B-cell and T-cell lymphomas. You benefit from a customized care plan and the latest treatments.
You will meet with blood cancer experts who specialize in the distinct lymphoma type you have. They create a customized care plan that offers the best outcomes and quality of life.
We offer the latest medication therapies, including:
- Chemotherapy
- Immunotherapy, including CAR T-cell therapy, bispecific antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates
- Targeted therapy
We perform hundreds of bone marrow (stem cell) transplants at our renowned Bone Marrow Transplant Program every year. We also use the latest therapies to prevent and manage conditions that can happen after a transplant, such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).
Transplant options for lymphoma include:
- Allogeneic transplant with a matched, related donor
- Allogeneic transplant with a mismatched or unrelated donor
- Umbilical cord blood transfusions
- Autologous transplants
We offer all types of radiation therapies for lymphoma, including proton therapy at New England’s only proton therapy center and adaptive radiation therapy.
Our radiation oncologists use advanced 3D and 4D imaging technology to more precisely deliver radiation and minimize damage to healthy tissue. We also offer total body irradiation for patients getting bone marrow transplants.
