National recognition

The Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute offers one of the largest and most experienced centers in New England for the treatment of stomach cancer. We offer a collaborative and caring approach to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with confirmed or suspected stomach cancer.

Consistently ranked as one of the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report, we provide the latest, most effective treatments including many innovative approaches to clinical care and promising new therapies.

Expertise in diagnosis and staging

Accurate diagnosis and staging (how early or advanced cancer is) are key to effective treatment. Our renowned pathologists and radiologists subspecialize in thoracic cancers and use advanced diagnostic tools, including:

  • 4D CT scans
  • Endoscopic esophageal biopsies
  • Endoscopic tumor resections (EMR and ESD)
  • Esophageal ultrasounds
  • Minimally invasive laparoscopic evaluations
  • Molecular tests for new and standard biomarkers
  • MRIs
  • Nuclear medicine tests, such as PET scans
Excellence in surgery
Surgery is a key treatment for stomach cancer. Our stomach cancer surgeons have extensive experience in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures. These approaches offer greater surgical precision, faster recoveries, and better patient outcomes.
Advanced and innovative medical treatments
We offer the most clinical trials in New England for stomach and esophageal cancers. While chemotherapy is often used to treat stomach cancer, our medical oncologists also offer new drugs that target gene mutations (changes) in tumors. These innovative drugs can help stop cancer cells from growing without using traditional chemotherapy and radiation.
