Compassionate, personalized care
Our specialists understand the complexities of needing one — or more — transplants. At Mass General Brigham, you receive high-quality care from a compassionate team. We partner with you and your loved ones to create a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs. We also provide supportive services that help you stay strong before, during, and after transplantation.
Transplants without lifelong antirejection medications
Mass General Brigham is home to the world’s first center dedicated to transplant tolerance. This innovative method helps prevent organ rejection without lifelong antirejection drugs. Our approach allows some patients to reduce or discontinue medication while still ensuring transplant success.
Research-driven innovation
Mass General Brigham physician-scientists have helped develop lifesaving techniques that revolutionized transplant medicine worldwide. Our major milestones include:
- Completing the world’s first successful tolerance induction in mismatched kidney recipients
- Performing New England’s first successful pancreas, liver, and combined heart-liver and lung-liver transplants
- Performing the world’s first successful transplant using a genetically edited pig kidney
