- Communication access, interpreter services, and assistive technology
- Ambassadors and escorts to help patients and visitors with requests such as getting out of a car and into a wheelchair. Ambassadors are easily identifiable by their jackets and badges
- Amenities and public spaces that are designed to be accessible to people with disabilities including patient care rooms, bathrooms, cafeterias, and more
- Close proximity to accessible public transportation and/or wheelchair-accessible shuttle and parking services
- Accessible entrances and connection to patient spaces via hallways
Accessibility resources
All Mass General Brigham public areas, including restrooms and cafeterias, are accessible to people with disabilities. Wheelchairs are available at hospital main entrances and other major building entrances.
Most amenities and public spaces are designed to ensure accessibility and comfort for all visitors.
We offer interpreter services and assistive communication technologies for patients and family members who are:
- Non-English speaking
- Speak English as a second language (ESL)
- Deaf or hard of hearing
- Blind or have low vision

Brigham and Women's Hospital
We’re conveniently located near accessible public transportation.
The nearest MBTA stop is the Brigham Circle stop on the MBTA's green line. Visitors coming by MBTA should use the 15 Francis Street entrance. This entrance is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. When this entrance is closed, use the 75 Francis Street entrance.
Additionally, MBTA’s THE RIDE offers door-to-door transportation to eligible people who can’t use general public transportation. To become eligible for THE RIDE, you must complete an application. Learn more via the MBTA website, or call (800) 533-6282(V) or (617) 222-5415(TTY).
Wheelchair accessible shuttles operate between:
- Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Boston)
- Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center (Chestnut Hill)
- Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital (Jamaica Plain)
- Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston)
You may view the shuttle schedule. It’s also posted at the shuttle stop across from the 75 Francis Street entrance.
There are three parking garages with designated accessible parking spots. For questions, please call 617-732-6532.
- 45 Francis Street Garage: Patients whose cars have HP plates or placards may self-park in this garage. All other patients may valet park their cars at this location or self-park in the 80 Francis Street Service Center Garage.
- 80 Francis Street Garage
- 60 Fenwood Road Garage
The vehicle height limit at garages is 6 feet 6 inches. There are a few oversized spaces on P1 of the 80 Francis Garage. See an attendant upon arrival for assistance with oversized vehicles.
When there are no open oversized self-parking spaces, please use valet service at the 45 or 75 Francis Street entrances. Accessible van parking is also available.
Valet parking
Valet parking is available at the 45 Francis and 75 Francis Street entrances. Valet parking is also available at 221 Longwood Avenue, Boston and the 850 Boylston Street, Brookline locations.
There are three main entrances to Brigham and Women’s Hospital:
- 15 Francis Street
- 45 Francis Street
- 75 Francis Street
Once inside, all patient care areas can be reached without having to exit the building, with the exception of the practices at 500 Brookline Avenue and 60 Fenwood Road. All main entrances are accessible. View our campus map.
Massachusetts General Hospital
The Charles/MGH stop on the MBTA's red line is ADA-compliant and barrier-free. Elevators and escalators can transport patrons between the street level and train platform level.
The station's north exit (to the right as you exit the station) is the best route to Mass General. It lines up with the pedestrian entrance to Mass General's Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care.
There is a pedestrian crosswalk with a traffic signal to cross the three lanes of traffic that separate the station from the Yawkey Building. Once in the Yawkey Building, you may take the escalator or elevator to the second floor. There is an enclosed walkway that will bring you to elevators in the Lunder Building, which provide access to the hospital's Main Lobby.
Additionally, MBTA's The RIDE offers door-to-door transportation to eligible people who cannot use general public transportation. In order to use The RIDE, you must complete an application to become eligible.
Wheelchair-accessible shuttles operate between various Mass General locations and buildings.
Whenever possible, please contact Mass General Brigham Transportation at 617-726-2250 at least 24 hours in advance if you need to request a shuttle with a wheelchair lift. View our shuttle schedule.
Patient shuttle on call
Mass General Brigham Transportation operates wheelchair-accessible shuttles to assist patients needing to get to nearby Mass General practices. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Mass General Hospital information desk staff, located in the Gray and Yawkey lobbies, will call for the patient shuttle bus. The bus will drive the patient from one of these hospital lobbies to the hospital building where the appointment is scheduled.

Common locations that are supported:
- 50 Staniford Street
- 101 Merrimac Street
- 25 New Chardon Street
- 1 Bowdoin Square
- 165 and 175 Cambridge Street (using back entrance to Charles River Plaza on O'Connell Way)

Valet parking
Moderately priced valet parking is available at the entrance to both the Wang Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) and the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care. The Wang ACC valet uses a surface parking lot with no vehicle height restrictions.
Parking garages
Mass General has three main parking garages with vehicle height restrictions as indicated below:
- Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care: 59 handicap parking spaces. The height limit is 8 feet, 2 inches for levels P1 and P2, and 7 feet, 2 inches for levels P3, P4, P5 and P6. Elevators from the garage bring you to the Yawkey lobby.
There are elevators and escalators in the lobby that provide access to an enclosed walkway, which provides access to the Lunder Building elevators. These elevators provide access to the main lobby. - Fruit Street (closest to Mass General's main campus): 23 handicap parking spaces. The height limit is 6 feet, 8 inches.
- Parkman Street: 21 handicap parking spaces. The height limit is 6 feet, 8 inches.
Additional accessible parking is available at 165 Cambridge Street and 50 Staniford Street.
165 Cambridge Street offers underground parking. There is also limited surface deck parking. The garage at 50 Staniford Street has 11 handicap parking spaces. The height limit is 6 feet, 10 inches. Please note that this parking garage is not owned or operated by Mass General.
Most buildings on Mass General's Main Campus are connected via hallways. The hospital has several main accessible entrances available to patients, visitors and employees. View a campus map.
Recommended Main Campus Entrance (15 Parkman Street, Boston MA 02114): The Wang Ambulatory Care Center entrance is fully accessible and connects directly to the White Building/main entrance via elevator.
White Building (55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114): Considered Mass General's main entrance, the White Building is accessible. The building entrance is open 24 hours.
Cox Building (100 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114) is accessible by elevator from the sidewalk-level entrance. This connects directly to the main part of the hospital. The building entrance is open 6 a.m. to 8 pm, Monday through Friday.
The Gray and Jackson buildings (80 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114) are convenient to the Mass General Brigham shuttle buses and both have automatic doors.
Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care (32 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114) is accessible, and the building entrance door closes at 9 p.m.
The Lunder Building is adjacent to the White Lobby. The Lunder Building is accessible and is open 24 hours.
50 Staniford Street and 165 Cambridge Street are also accessible.
Ambassadors in Mass General's police and security department can help patients and visitors with requests, such as getting out of a car or into a wheelchair.
Ambassadors are posted at the hospital's main entrance and other major entrances. Ambassadors are easily identified by their jackets and badges.
In addition, information desks are located throughout the hospital’s main campus buildings, near many of the major entrances. Volunteers and staff at the information desks are available to assist you with getting to your destination at the hospital. Information desk staff also can help answer questions or locate an ambassador or volunteer escort.
Wheelchairs are available at the hospital’s main entrance and other major entrances, including:
- White Building/Main Entrance (55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114)
- Wang Ambulatory Care Center (15 Parkman Street, Boston, MA 02114)
- Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care (32 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114)
- Gray Building (90 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114)
Wheelchairs are not available at the entrance to the Jackson Building lobby.
Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital
We’re conveniently located near wheelchair accessible public transportation.
MBTA Bus #38, Wren Street, stops directly in front of Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital on Centre Street. The Wren Street bus shuttles between the West Roxbury business district and Forest Hills station where it connects with the Orange Line and other bus routes.
Additionally, MBTA’s THE RIDE offers door-to-door transportation to eligible people who cannot use general public transportation. To become eligible for THE RIDE, you must complete an application. You can learn more via the MBTA website, or call (800) 533-6282(V) or (617) 222-5415(TTY).

The document reader is an automated telephone service that allows patients to enter a document ID into the system and hear its contents read back to them.

- Patients, family members or visitors may call 617-531-0507 to listen to a document.
- After entering the document number (see available documents above), the document will be read to you.
