Our mission

The Contraception Consult Clinic provides evaluations for women with significant chronic medical issues. Pregnancy prevention is often essential for these women, but contraception planning may be overshadowed or complicated by their medical demands. Our goal is to prevent unintended pregnancies in this population.

Who will benefit from the service?

High risk contraception consultations are for women with chronic medical conditions who need guidance on safe, effective contraception. This may include patients who receive most of their care from specialists such as neurologists, rheumatologists, cardiologists, hematologists, or other providers across our system. Consultation may also be helpful for women taking medications that can affect how well contraception works or for women preparing for bariatric surgery.

Initiation and management of contraceptives, in collaboration with the referring physician, including:

  • Hormonal and non-hormonal methods
