Center for Young Adult Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death among adults younger than 50. To address the distinct clinical and life-stage needs of these patients, we established a specialized center to provide coordinated, age-informed care for younger adults diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

Specialized, research-driven treatments

The causes of early-onset colorectal cancer are not yet fully understood and may involve a combination of genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Through ongoing research and clinical collaboration, we are actively advancing diagnostic tools and treatments for colorectal cancer specific to younger patients. Care is personalized and informed by the latest evidence, with a focus on long-term health and quality of life.

Liver-directed therapies for advanced colorectal cancer

Sometimes, colorectal cancer spreads (metastasizes) to the liver. We have a specialized program dedicated to offering patients hepatic artery infusion pump therapy — an innovative form of chemotherapy that is delivered directly to the liver. We have been at the forefront of research and development in bringing this treatment into clinical practice.

We also offer liver transplant as part of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment plan. Our team evaluates each patient individually to determine the most appropriate liver-directed approach.

Colorectal cancer treatments

We diagnose and treat all types and stages of colorectal cancer in young adults and offer the latest, most effective treatments.

Our cancer specialists

At every step, your care is guided by a multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists. This may include medical, surgical, and radiation oncology physicians, advanced practice providers, radiologists, pathologists, oncology nurses, nurse navigators, and more. You may also work with dietitians, genetic counselors, social workers, and mental health professionals.
