Foregut Disease Program
Comprehensive care for foregut diseases
At Mass General Brigham, we provide expert, multidisciplinary care for patients with diseases of the upper digestive system, including the diaphragm, esophagus, and stomach. Our specialized team of gastroenterologists, surgeons, and other specialists has extensive experience using state-of-the-art, minimally invasive techniques to accurately diagnose and effectively treat these conditions. We collaborate with patients and their families to manage common, rare, and recurrent foregut conditions.
Our approach to treating foregut diseases
We diagnose and treat benign conditions of the upper digestive system, including diaphragmatic, hiatal, and paraesophageal hernias.
We offer a full range of advanced diagnostic testing, along with medical, endoscopic, and minimally invasive surgical treatments. Most patients can be treated using minimally invasive, laparoscopic, or thoracoscopic procedures, which typically lead to faster recovery times.
Working closely with patients and their families, we develop individualized treatment plans for common, rare, and recurrent foregut diseases.
We consider many factors when developing your treatment plan, including disease severity and your overall health.
As a new patient, you’ll meet with a surgeon to discuss the most effective treatment course and the need for other specialists. We deliver care that meets your needs and those of your family, from diagnosis to treatment and beyond.
