Advanced therapies and research
Through our integrated Alzheimer’s Center, patients may also have access to newly approved disease-modifying therapies and specialized monitoring programs designed to deliver these treatments safely and effectively.
Research is closely integrated with patient care across Mass General Brigham. Eligible patients may participate in clinical trials studying new treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions.
These programs connect prevention, early-detection, and treatment studies directly with patient care, helping new discoveries reach patients more quickly.
Our approach to care
Memory disorders can affect many aspects of daily life over time, including thinking, communication, and independence. Our multidisciplinary team works together to support you at every stage.
Your care team may include:
- Neurologists
- Geriatric psychiatrists
- Nurses
- Social work resource specialists
- We focus on coordinated, compassionate care that addresses both medical needs and quality of life.
For patients referred to us or seeking a second opinion, we provide comprehensive evaluations to confirm a diagnosis and guide treatment decisions. These services may include:
- Blood draw
- Neuroimaging
- Neuropsychological tests
- Lumbar puncture procedures
After diagnosis, your care team will create a personalized treatment plan for your condition.
We support both patients and their caregivers throughout the care journey. We offer a cutting-edge standard of care for all our patients. Depending on diagnosis and eligibility, patients may receive disease-modifying therapies for Alzheimer’s disease such as:
- Donanemab (Kinsula)
- Lecanemab (Leqembi)
- Your care team may also recommend:
- Genetic counseling
- Behavioral health support
- Referrals to other specialists
Caregivers can access support groups and social service consultations to help navigate care and planning.
We provide regular follow-up visits, typically every six months after diagnostic testing, to monitor changes and adjust care as needed. If you have any questions, you can communicate with our team via phone or Patient Gateway.
We encourage patients to bring a family member, care partner, or caregiver to appointments to help provide context and support shared decision-making.
