About the program

The Pediatric Aerodigestive Center brings together specialists across pediatric otolaryngology (ENT), gastroenterology, pulmonology, and speech-language pathology to diagnose and treat complex conditions affecting the airway, swallowing, feeding, and voice.

Part of Mass General Brigham for Children

Coordinated care for complex conditions

Conditions involving breathing, swallowing, feeding, or voice are often complex and may require care from multiple specialists. Our team works together to coordinate care and reduce the need for separate appointments.

Whenever possible, children are seen by multiple specialists during the same visit and receive a unified treatment plan tailored to their needs. Diagnostic testing and procedures are coordinated to reduce travel and minimize repeated anesthesia.

Appointments within two weeks

We are committed to seeing your child in a timely manner and can schedule most appointments within two weeks. To make an appointment, please call 617-573-3074.

Conditions we treat

We care for infants, children, and young adults with conditions such as:

  • newborn aspiration
  • aspiration requiring nasogastric tube (NGT) feeding
  • complex bronchopulmonary dysplasia
  • breastfeeding challenges related to tongue tie or lip tether
  • chronic cough
  • voice and resonance disorders (including vocal nodules, cysts, and velopharyngeal insufficiency)
  • paradoxical vocal fold motion
  • laryngopharyngeal reflux and eosinophilic esophagitis
  • obstructive sleep apnea (including evaluation for hypoglossal nerve stimulation in children with Down syndrome and severe sleep apnea)

Family-centered care

We understand that diagnosis and treatment can be stressful for children and families. Our specialists work closely together to provide coordinated care and clear communication throughout treatment.

Parents and caregivers are important partners in care. Because no one knows a child better than their family, we work closely with parents and primary care providers to ensure treatment plans reflect each child’s unique needs.
