Our approach to personality disorders care
Personality disorders can cause many types of symptoms, making it hard to diagnose accurately. However, the right diagnosis is crucial to finding effective treatment.
Our psychiatrists, psychologists, and clinical social workers offer thorough evaluations of your symptoms, experiences, and family history. They guide you toward the treatment and support you need for a healthier future.
McLean’s Gunderson Residence Program offers residential care to cisgender and transgender women, as well as nonbinary people assigned female at birth. This is a self-pay program. Care includes individual, family, and group therapy along with medication management. We personalize treatment to your needs, using techniques such as:
- DBT
- DBT for post-traumatic stress disorder (DBT-PTSD)
- Mentalization-based treatment (MBT)
- Radically open DBT (RO-DBT)
- Transference-focused psychotherapy (TFP)
- Good Psychiatric Management (GPM)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
The McLean Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) Outpatient Clinic offers specialized, evidence-based treatment for borderline personality disorder and other personality disorders that is entirely insurance-based. Options include MBT group therapy alone or combinations of group and individual therapy plus psychiatric management.
The MGH Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group program offers DBT groups for persons who receive long-term medical or individual mental health care through MGH. An individual therapist (at MGH or elsewhere) is also required for the program.
