About Mass General Brigham
Our mission
Mass General Brigham is an integrated academic healthcare system with a four-part mission: patient care, research, education, and community health.
We connect world-class hospitals, community health centers, and specialized institutes. Through this model, we combine our clinical expertise, research, education, and community engagement to solve large-scale health challenges — supporting individual patients while advancing healthcare innovation.
Our system also includes the Mass General Brigham Health Plan and MGH Institute of Health Professions, extending our impact beyond care delivery, strengthening access, affordability, and the future health care workforce.
A mission to serve
"Mass General Brigham is building the integrated academic health care system of the future with patients at the center, transforming care and making it more affordable, improving outcomes and expanding our impact regionally, nationally, and globally."

A history of innovation
Mass General Brigham's legacy is one of medical firsts, Nobel Laureates, and prestigious world-leading hospitals.
For more than 200 years, we've shaped health care through innovation, collaboration, and compassion. We have made groundbreaking contributions to the medical field, reflecting our long-standing approach of accepting challenges and advancing breakthroughs, including the first heart transplant in New England, the first triple organ transplant in the United States, and the first FDA-approved gene therapy to cure inherited blindness.
Today, we continue pioneering the future of medicine as a world-recognized leader in research. Through thousands of clinical trials, our physician-researchers continuously help bring new treatments and therapies to our patients. We are also recognized as one of the most innovative institutes in the country.
