Disorders of Consciousness Program

The Disorders of Consciousness (DoC) Program is for patients who have had severe acquired brain injury and have not yet regained the level of consciousness that allows them to follow instructions, reliably communicate, or perform basic self care.

Comprehensive disorders of consciousness rehabilitation care

We offer a broad range of clinical services for patients recovering from severe brain injury. Our mission is to optimize functional recovery through evidence-based care, identify mechanisms that contribute to disorders of consciousness, and to share knowledge and provide resources to those involved in the care of patients with brain injury.

We develop and tailor personalized treatment plans based on your progress.

Comprehensive rehabilitation service

Our program is organized into three levels of care. Each one addresses the clinical needs of the phase of recovery:

  1. Not conscious
  2. Awake but not able to communicate consistently
  3. Can communicate but are confused and need help with care

We provide care in both hospital inpatient and long-term acute settings. Your care team will work with you to determine which would be best for you.

Our rehabilitation care helps patients who have suffered severe brain injuries regain consciousness and function to improve their quality of life.
