Pushing the boundaries of discovery

As a world-recognized leader in research, we are home to one of the largest hospital system-based research medical centers in the U.S., with an annual research budget of nearly $2 billion. Here, our researchers and clinicians are conducting thousands of studies in every major medical therapeutic and technology discipline. We are currently enrolling our patients in over 2,700 ongoing clinical trials, including nearly 100 for COVID-19, to accelerate bringing new treatments and therapies to our patients and the world.

Our Innovation team supports inventors, entrepreneurs, and thought-leaders in developing new products and technologies that benefit patients everywhere. These efforts improve patient outcomes and transform care. Companies around the world license and use our software, medical devices, diagnostics, and therapeutics. In addition, Mass General Brigham Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm founded to advance new life science technologies emerging from our vast research network.

Gene and cell therapy

Researchers at Mass General Brigham are leaders in gene and cell therapies, translating to treatment for patients through clinical trials. We bring together 400 leading gene and cell therapy researchers from five nationally ranked academic medical centers with multidisciplinary expertise to accelerate innovation and ultimately improve patient care for a variety of congenital and non-congenital diseases.
