This past Spring as the Bruins battled in an exciting playoffs series with the Carolina Hurricanes, the Boston Bruins Foundation partnered with Mass General Brigham Sports Medicine to donate funds raised from a 50/50 raffle during Game 3 of the 1st round series to the Mass General Hospital/Red Sox Foundation Home Base Program. The donation of $15,000 recently presented by Bob Sweeney, President of the Bruins Foundation, will go towards supporting Home Base’s research and care programs for veterans and their families facing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

“Our fans and the entire Bruins organization are so proud to support Home Base’s outstanding work for returning heroes and their families,” said Bob Sweeney. “I thank our partners at Mass General Brigham and our fans for enabling this donation for such important work in our community.”

“On behalf of Home Base, I want to sincerely thank the Bruins Foundation for their tremendous generosity. This donation will directly support our mission to heal the invisible wounds of war for our wounded and injured Warriors and their Families,” said Retired Brigadier General Jack Hammond, Executive Director, Home Base. “It’s the support from philanthropic organizations – like the Bruins Foundation– that help us provide world-class clinical care, wellness, education and research all at no cost to Veterans, Service Members and their Families.”

Mass General Brigham serves as the Official Sports Medicine and Orthopedics Provider for the Boston Bruins.  “For Mass General Brigham Sports Medicine to connect the excitement of our partnership with the Bruins to an outstanding organization like Home Base and make a meaningful difference for our wounded warriors and their families is incredibly gratifying. All of us at Mass General Brigham Sports Medicine are so humbled and honored to be able to help make this possible,” said R. Scott Gassett, Vice President of Mass General Brigham Sports Medicine.

Based on the success last season the Bruins Foundation has already committed to another 50/50 raffle fundraiser at a Bruins game for the 2022/23 season with funds direct to the Home Base Program.
